Salt air fixes stiff shoulders faster than any posing direction. Ten minutes into Seascape Beach & Resort and everyone had forgotten the camera was there.
A short hop later we were at Rio Del Mar Beach, which reads completely differently on camera. Two locations, one session, twice the variety.
From there we moved to Seacliff State Beach, trading one backdrop for another without losing the light.
The playbook: start loose, sneak the posed group shots into the middle while everyone is warm, and end on something fun so the last memory of the session is a good one.
The photographs from days like this earn their keep slowly. They go up in the hallway, the kids grow three shoe sizes, and the print from Seascape Beach & Resort becomes the one guests stop at.
Locations: Seascape Beach & Resort (Santa Cruz) · Rio Del Mar Beach (Aptos) · Seacliff State Beach (Aptos)
Here’s a few highlights from this shoot. Most photographers only ever show a static portfolio of their very best images. I think every potential client should see more than that: the full shoots themselves. Nothing sets expectations like seeing multiple sessions at one location in different weather, times of day, and seasons. We get amazing photos no matter what, and we’re not afraid to show you.
