What we love about Saratoga for family sessions.
Saratoga and Hakone Gardens offer something rare in the South Bay: a quiet Japanese garden with koi ponds, a moon bridge, maples, and bamboo, set into the hills above Silicon Valley. Families come here when a park feels too casual, and seniors when they want texture and calm instead of sand. The paths keep it easy for grandparents and little ones alike. One quirk: Hakone closes at 5, so this is the rare shoot where the gate schedule beats the sunset. Mid-afternoon it is.

Spring for green and blossoms, fall for maple color. The garden's daily hours set the window.
