Why Santa Cruz
What we love about Santa Cruz for family sessions.
Santa Cruz is where we live, so it stands to reason that we shoot around here more than anywhere else. We've got miles of premium coastline, both popular touristy spots as well as more obscure, yet beautiful locations. Beaches are what we're known for, but we have the most beautiful redwood forests at Henrry Cowell and Nisene Marks, to name a couple. The best part? They both look pretty much the same year-round, so we can get consistent, beautiful shots anywhere, anytime. We know what beaches are affected more by tides, which spots are more accessible for little kids and aging parents. We know where the crowds are, and we know the timing that coincides with the best light. Bring the whole crew, bring the dog, bring the reluctant teenagers. We'll make it easy.
Best time of year
Great year-round. Summer mornings (roughly June through August) can be foggy right along the coast but usually burn off by afternoon; September and October bring the clearest, warmest light of the year.
