Why Felton
What we love about Felton for family sessions.
Felton and Henry Cowell Redwoods are where we go when a family wants the big old-growth trees without the drive to Big Basin. Sunlight filters down through 250-foot redwoods in soft shafts, the main loop is flat and shaded, and it stays cool even on a hot valley afternoon. Seniors book it for the texture; families book it when everyone is beached out. Best part: the grove sits right off the parking lot, so you're under the giants about two minutes after shutting the car door. A completely different feel from the coast twenty minutes down the hill.
Best time of year
The shaded forest shoots beautifully year-round; late morning through mid-afternoon is when the light beams come through the canopy.
